Object
1) Прямое дополнение обозначает то лицо (или предмет), которое подвергается действию.
2) Если глагол имеет два дополнения, то прямое дополнение следует за непрямым, то есть порядок слов в предложении такой: (Глагол + Непрямое дополнение + Прямое дополнение). О случаях, когда прямое дополнение находится перед непрямым, см. Indirect object, 3.

I gave him my phone number. (my phone number - прямое дополнение). — Я дал ему свой номер телефона.

3) Глаголы, способные принимать дополнение, называются переходными: см. Transitive and intransitive verbs.
